Last Train In follows Adam through his first year as a high school teacher in a small town outside of London, England. Moving back and forth in time, the play begins with Adam (a wheel-chair user) trapped in a UK train station, between two flights of stairs and without an elevator. Ten years later, there is still a part of him that’s trying to leave that station behind.

Written and performed by award-winning theatre and film maker Adam Grant Warren, who was born with Cerebral Palsy. Last Train In draws from Adam’s lived experiences of travel, romance and career expectations with a few creative detours along the way.

Rice-and-Beans Theatre production and part of Up in the Air’s annual rEvolver Festival.

REVIEWS

“Searingly honest storytelling makes Last Train In well worth catching.”  –The Georgia Straight

“Warren is an engaging performer. And Last Train In makes you think—about the notion that some disabled people might create their own heroic narratives, for instance, because they provide relief from the relentless everyday shittiness, the frustrations, exhaustion, and exclusion, that can come with some disabilities. And about how hard it is to acknowledge vulnerability, which is, of course, far more interesting than heroism.” -Colin Thomas
