Almost Live episode #214

Join us for a classic radio play from Lux Radio Theatre! Originally broadcast on September 13, 1937, this radio dramatization brings to life the beloved Hollywood story that also featured Janet Gaynor in her Oscar-nominated film role.

The story follows Esther Blodgett, a hopeful young woman from a small town who travels to Hollywood determined to become a movie star. There she meets Norman Maine, a once-celebrated actor whose career is slipping due to alcoholism. Recognizing Esther’s genuine talent, Norman helps her find her footing in the film industry, mentoring her as her career—and their relationship—begins to flourish. But as Esther’s star rises, Norman’s struggles deepen, casting a shadow over their love.

Romantic, poignant, and emotionally powerful, this classic tale explores fame, ambition, and the price of success.
