Almost Live episode #182
Troy James Hurtubise is a self-styled “close-quarter bear researcher,” obsessed with going face to face with Canada’s most deadly land mammal, the grizzly bear. Troy is the creator of what he hopes is a grizzly-proof suit of armor–protective clothing that is an extraordinary fusion of high-tech materials and homespun ingenuity–and he repeatedly tests his suit – and courage – in stunts that are both hair-raising and hilarious. Directed by Peter Lynch, the film has become a cult classic and is rumoured to be a favourite of director Quentin Tarantino.
Host Amy Amantea will be joined by special guest Kirstin Takashiba (she/her), Program Coordinator of the
North Shore Black Bear Society.
This documentary film is presented with audio description courtesy of the National Film Board of Canada – NFB/ONF.
