Almost Live episode #199
Inherited stories and the songs they carry.
Conceived by JUNO-nominated singer-songwriter Adrian Glynn McMorran, You’re Just a Place That I Know is a remarkable theatrical concert based on his album of the same name. It traces the history of Adrian’s Ukrainian grandparents, who left their homeland during World War II to begin life anew in Montreal. The show powerfully evokes questions of ancestry and generational connection through song and story, both from Adrian and other members of the diverse 7-piece band, while a multigenerational choir fills the stage.
Catch it at our Almost Live event before experiencing it on stage at the Arts Club’s Olympic Village venue! The live version is considered Low Vision Friendly, but the added context and conversation with artist and creator Adrian Glynn McMorran during this event will help fill in any visual details—and draw you into the rich, storytelling nature of this deeply personal music.
