Almost Live episode #230
Christine Malec guest hosts this episode of Almost Live, where we’ll explore a story from LeVar Burton Reads, a weekly fiction podcast hosted by actor and literacy advocate LeVar Burton (Reading Rainbow, Roots, Star Trek: The Next Generation).
In “The Hidden Forests of Earth and Mars” by Anna Zumbro, Paloma, a teenager growing up on a climate-damaged Earth, faces an irreversible choice. Her mother, stepfather, and little brother are leaving Earth to help build a permanent settlement on Mars. Paloma must decide whether to go with them or stay with her father and the forest school where she has found a sense of purpose.
Join Christine for a conversation about this thought-provoking story and the choices we make when imagining the future.
