I want to let you know that I wouldn’t be coming to all this great theatre if it wasn’t for VocalEye. It has been such a fantastic chance for me to engage in the community and in culture. Thank you for providing this great service! You can also let the venues know that I wouldn’t be coming to their establishments if it wasn’t for the VocalEye tickets.

I really enjoyed the production. This was the first time I have been to a live theatre since I lost my vision about 10 years ago and it was a welcome distraction for my husband and I from the usual family commitments. The audio description is wonderful. thank you.

I thought the overall experience was really good. the preshow description was a nice touch, the audio equipment worked really well for me, the Arts Club is very accessible as i am also in a wheelchair. We will definitely be attending more audio described productions in the future.

I. D. (Ride the Cyclone)

We all enjoyed the touch tour. Through the tour, Russell was able to understand how the cat can stand on a ball and hold books, cake and boats etc. he enjoyed it very much. All the props were great to touch and experience and “see”. His favourite was the ball and “standing” on it.

Thank you very much for the experience. We hope that the vocal eye can continue its great work so that other people blind or visually impaired can watch a play with their friends and or family like everyone else. Thanks again.

Thank you Steph and Ken for giving your time and talents to make this another enjoyable evening at the theatre for me. The venue as always, was friendly and accessible. The equipment worked perfectly… no static at all. I had the volume cranked to the max and because everyone was having such a good time, it was difficult to hear your description due to the laughter. I never would have known that Alice did a backward summersault out of the tent when she was stuck in the mummy sack, if it hadn’t been described to me. I do appreciate the Advance Description e-mail so that I can familiarize myself with the characters and set design. When Alice was setting up the campsite and getting out the cushions, tablecloth, etc. I remembered that it all matched and was elegantly set. There was a lot of dialogue during this performance as well as action and at times it must have been difficult for you to keep up. The advance description prepares me for that. I also enjoy listening to the live pre-show notes. Thank you again… I had a wonderful time.

M. N. (Henry and Alice: Into the Woods)

I find great value in the preshow notes Live before the show and intermission. It gives me an excellent idea of costumes and sets. I also appreciate the Advanced Description documents and email links which again is helpful in visualizing the costumes, sets, storyline and actor description. I had no problem with equipment; in fact it was handed to me at the bar and taken from me at my seat in the theatre. The staff was very accommodating and courteous. The venue itself gave me a sense of nostalgia. I think if I attended the theatre another time I would have a good handle on where everything is; washrooms, coffee/bar, seating etc. I loved the play. The performances and musical talents of the actors were phenomenal to say the least. I’d like to thank you Steph for providing such a great service and I hope to take advantage of this service more often.

A. H. (Chelsea Hotel)

The show was great, actors were awesome and Zach[ary Stevenson] is truly gifted. I will continue to use and enjoy your service. As always I look forward to the day when services like these are available in more theatres.

A. A. (Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story)

I thought the play was wonderful. I was thrilled with the description. I didn’t know what to expect. but it was great.

J. P. (High Society)

I enjoyed the play much more and got much more out of it with live description. I have never experienced it before and I loved it.

B. N. (Calendar Girls)

It was the first time I have used the service and I think it was fantastic. I shall certainly be going again to other performances. Thank you for doing this.

I attended the Vancouver Playhouse’s performance of The Miracle Worker. I was extremely impressed with the live AD. Not only was the service beneficial for me as a blind patron, but it was also beneficial for my sighted companion. Without the AD, my companion would be trying to provide the description. This is distracting to him, since he is not able to fully focus on and enjoy the play himself, but it can also be annoying to other patrons sitting nearby. In addition, my companion would never be able to provide as much detail about the set design, costumes and physical attributes of the actors. Most importantly, the AD allows me the independence and choice to attend a live theatre production without having to rely on a sighted companion. I would be interested in attending more live theatre presentations that were accompanied by AD, and to pass on information to my sight impaired friends and acquaintances.
